Tree Planting for Independence Day: 38 Trees at Paskuqan Lake

On November 27, 2024, just before Albania’s Independence Day, we joined young activists and environmental enthusiasts by the shores of Paskuqan Lake to plant 38 trees.
The action was part of the #TreeOfFriendship initiative, aiming to leave a lasting, sustainable mark for our community and inspire future generations.

This symbolic act was not only a celebration of Albania’s freedom but also a contribution to a wider regional movement: planting trees across the Western Balkans to promote unity, hope, and a greener future.

Through #TreesOfFriendship, each tree was not just planted — it was named, loved, and rooted in personal stories of friendship, care, and connection to nature. Young participants attached handwritten messages to the trees, sharing hopes for a better and more sustainable world.

This initiative was part of a joint effort with partners across the region, including:

Together, we are creating a regional forest of change — proving that by acting locally and thinking regionally, we can make a lasting impact.
